Karima and Layla film some Africans who are selling their wares to tourists. This is an interesting link for those who know the story of Morocco and Tangier, especially. Africans from all over the continent make their way into Morocco in order to cross into Spain. From Tangier to Algeciras is only a 7-14km crossing. Some of them make it across, and some of them just get stuck in Morocco, never quite settling there, always with this dream of crossing. In Battery Park you had the stories of those who did manage to cross--this provided food for thought and subject matter for filming. Maria went back later and spoke with them. Here was something eerily familiar in the New World.
